Understanding Harm Reduction & Drug Related Health Issues
Date: Thursday 30th April 2020
This one-day workshop will introduce harm reduction and outline the health issues experienced through substance misuse.  The training will provide participants with an understanding and appreciation of the key issues pertaining to theory and practice of harm reduction/minimisation; and an overview of the major health issues which are initiated and /or exacerbated by substance misuse.  Content includes: –

  • Definition of harm reduction
  • Principles of harm reduction
  • Practice of harm reduction
  • Development of services
  • Current harm reduction service provision
  • Drug toxicity
  • Blood viruses (HIV, Hep. C, etc.)
  • Fungal and bacterial infections
  • Vein damage, associated with IV use
  • Lung and other organ damage
  • Overdose and universal precautions

Keyworking and Care Planning
Date: Monday 11th & Tuesday 12th May 2020.
Keyworking and Care Planning is a two-day programme for workers who wish to develop and enhance their skills in the keyworking role. It will be of particular interest to anyone working or volunteering in a care setting.  Content includes: –

  • Keyworker Role – responsibilities and values
  • Assessment and care planning
  • Case management and shared care plans
  • Confidentiality
  • Record keeping
  • Reflective practice

Accreditation: Addiction Counsellors of Ireland – 8 CPD Credits.
