Introduction to Addiction Studies 
Dates: Thursday 7th & Friday 8th September 2017
This two-day workshop is for those wishing to gain a good basic understanding of drugs and related issues.

Community Addiction Studies Course© (CASC) – QQI Award (Minor) Level 5
This course runs over ten weeks (one-day each week) or over 20 weeks (one-evening each week) and the next start dates will be late September or early October 2017.  The Community Addiction Studies Course is for anyone living or working in the community who would like to be more effective when it comes to drug/alcohol issues.
Content includes:
~ Pharmaceutical information on drugs and their effect
~ Process of addiction
~ How addiction effects individuals, families, communities
~ Social analysis
~ Media analysis
~ Personal development
~ How individuals and communities can respond
~ Field visits to drugs services

Keyworking and Care Planning
Dates: Thursday 5th & Friday 6th October 2017.
Keyworking and Care Planning is a two-day programme for workers who wish to develop and enhance their skills in the keyworking role. It will be of particular interest to anyone working or volunteering in a care setting.

Working with Alcohol Misuse
Date: Thursday 12th October 2017
This one-day (10am-5pm) training is designed for persons working or volunteering in the social care and allied field, who come into contact with alcohol misuse and seek a deeper understanding of the subject and some strategies for dealing with the attendant problems.
Content includes: –
~ Alcohol the drug and how it works.
~ Effects of alcohol on the body and brain.
~ Acute and chronic harm caused by alcohol.

Community Reinforcement Approach
Dates: Thursday 19th & Friday 20th October 2017.
This two-day (10am-5pm) training is for those who would like to gain a better understanding of the Community Reinforcement Approach. It will be of interest to anyone already working / volunteering in a care setting.
This training will enable participants to: –
~ Develop an appreciation of the theoretical framework and principles underlying CRA.
~ Gain an understanding of the strategies to develop drug and alcohol interventions.
~ Assess the client’s drug and alcohol use.
~ Develop effective treatment planning interventions.
~ Enhance their CRA skill set.

Women and Substance Use
Dates: Tuesday 7th November 2017
This one-day (10am-5pm) training is for workers in the addiction field, particularly those who would like to acquire a better understanding of how substance use affects women, pregnant women, the foetus an infant.

~ Pregnancy and substance use – considerations for the mother’s health.
~ Pregnancy and substance use – the implications for the health of the foetus.

Understanding Harm Reduction
Date: 16th November 2017
This half-day (10am-1pm) workshop is designed for persons working or volunteering in the drugs field and who wish to enhance their professional understanding of the principles and practice of harm reduction as an approach in relation to problem drug use.

~ Principles of harm reduction

This half-day (2pm-5pm) workshop is designed for persons working or volunteering in the drugs field and who wish to enhance their professional understanding of health issues related to drug use.

Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Dates: – 6th & 7th December 2017
This two-day course (10am-5pm) is intended to deepen participants understanding of the theories of cognitive behavioural therapy. It will also provide an opportunity to enhance skills regarding treatment planning and practice. The training is aimed at those who have completed the earlier 2-day introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training and also are working / volunteering in a care setting.
