Introduction to Addiction Studies 
Dates: Thursday 25 & Friday 26 January 2018
This two-day workshop is for those wishing to gain a good basic understanding of drugs and related issues.

Community Addiction Studies Course© (CASC) – QQI Award (Minor) Level 5
This course runs over ten weeks (one-day each week) and the next start date is February 12th (10am-5pm) 2018.  The Community Addiction Studies Course is for anyone living or working in the community who would like to be more effective when it comes to drug/alcohol issues.
Content includes:
~ Pharmaceutical information on drugs and their effect
~ Process of addiction
~ How addiction effects individuals, families, communities
~ Social analysis
~ Media analysis
~ Personal development
~ How individuals and communities can respond
~ Field visits to drugs services
Accreditation: QQI Award (Minor) Level 5.
Application Process:     Application forms must be completed and all applicants are required to take part in an interview.

Keyworking and Care Planning
Dates: Thursday 8th & Friday 9th March 2018.
Keyworking and Care Planning is a two-day programme for workers who wish to develop and enhance their skills in the keyworking role. It will be of particular interest to anyone working or volunteering in a care setting.

~ Keyworker Role – responsibilities and values
~ Assessment and care planning
~ Case management and shared care plans
~ Confidentiality
~ Record keeping
~ Reflective practice
Accreditation: Addiction Counsellors of Ireland – 8 CPD Credits.

Women and Substance Use
Dates: Thursday 29 March 2018
This one-day (10am-5pm) training is for workers in the addiction field, particularly those who would like to acquire a better understanding of how substance use affects women, pregnant women, the foetus an infant.
Content includes: –
~ Impact of substance use on women.
~ Pregnancy and substance use – considerations for the mother’s health.
~ Pregnancy and substance use – the implications for the health of the foetus.
~ Effect of maternal substance use on early childhood development.
~ Accessing treatment – options and barriers.

Community Reinforcement Approach
Dates: Thursday 12th & Friday 13th April 2018.
This two-day (10am-5pm) training is for those who would like to gain a better understanding of the Community Reinforcement Approach. It will be of interest to anyone already working / volunteering in a care setting.
This training will enable participants to: –
~ Develop an appreciation of the theoretical framework and principles underlying CRA.
~ Gain an understanding of the strategies to develop drug and alcohol interventions.
~ Assess the client’s drug and alcohol use.
~ Develop effective treatment planning interventions.
~ Enhance their CRA skill set.

Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Date: Thursday 26th & Friday 27th April 2018.
This two-day (10am-5pm) course is for those wishing to gain an understanding of the CBT approach and how they may apply it in their work.  It will be of interest to anyone already working / volunteering in a care setting.
